The Golden Eagle Education Foundation accepts a $10,000 grant and eight members receive Paul Harris certificates from District 5495 Governor, Bret McKeand.

Golden Eagle Education Foundation Receives $10,000

Foundation representative Tim Taylor presented Golden Eagle Education Foundation (GEEF) representative, Marcia Hoenie (left), with a grant of $10,000 during a virtual meeting on January 13. This money will be used to fund three Four Peaks Rotary Foundation scholarships:
  • The Four Peaks Rotary Foundation Memorial Service Above Self scholarship
  • The Four Peaks Rotary Foundation 10-30 scholarship, given to a deserving student who ranks in the 10th-30th percentile
  • The Four Peaks Rotary Foundation Bill Beamish Interact Memorial scholarship:
Marcia explained how GEEF facilitates the scholarship process for area organizations. All monies that are awarded are given directly to the student's school or university. In 2022, they plan to award 37 scholarships totaling $45,000.

The Golden Eagle Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) organization, was established in 1992. Their four signature programs include:
  • Appreciation, which identifies and awards Fountain Hills Unified School District teachers and staff who make a positive difference in the lives of students;
  • Giving, to projects submitted by classroom teachers which are design to enhance learning and are not funded by traditional means;
  • Scholarships, which provide college funding for graduating seniors; and,
  • Mentoring, a school and community-based initiative designed to build a trusting relationship between trained adult members and students in grades K-12.
Individuals interested in helping with the selection process should contact Marcia or club member Sandy Davis. More information about GEEF is available on their website: www.fhgeef.org.
