John and his wife, Susan, live in Rio Verde. His Rotary membership began in the Sunrise Club in Naperville, Illinois in September 1993 where he served as club president and District 6450 Assistant Governor. John has attended numerous international conventions and currently serves as a director for the Four Peaks club. “To me, it’s real simple," he said about his love for Rotary. "It’s about doing something bigger than yourself.”
John attended a private high school in Memphis and obtained a degree in electrical engineering. His career included stints at Motorola, General Electric and several federal agencies, including the FBI, Secret Service and IRS where his specialty was small electronic devices.
His part time job as a security guard in a shopping mall when he was a college student turned into a career in commercial real estate development where he built and developed shopping malls.
Because Susan's parents lived in Rio Verde, the Colucci's started visiting Arizona in the late 1980s. John became a member of the Four Peaks club in February 2018. "I've been coming to Rotary meetings here since the 90s," he said. “When we decided to retire — don’t like bugs, don’t like humidity, don’t like the cold. -- it was just kinda natural. Let’s give this (Arizona) a try.”
